Why it’s a little special

Nicolas Cage's eccentric mentor and a modern science setting give the familiar apprenticeship story a playful angle. Magical training repeatedly collides with ordinary young-adult life.

US film rating

Magical fighting, frightening transformations, animated creatures and threats of mass destruction. Characters are injured or apparently killed, with mild language, romantic interest and some rude jokes.

Our notes are a starting point, not an age recommendation. G and PG films can still include intense moments. You know your family best.
