Toy Story 2
100%TomatometerSome things are too good to shelve.
A musician builds his life story from sound, color and LEGO bricks.
Pharrell Williams looks back on his childhood in Virginia, his partnership with Chad Hugo and the music that carried him into a wider world. Interviews with Williams and his collaborators are recreated through LEGO animation, turning memories, creative experiments and career setbacks into a colorful account of finding a distinctive musical voice.
The LEGO form gives a music documentary an imaginative visual language, with room to discuss collaboration and the work behind familiar songs.
The US PG rating cites language, some suggestive material and thematic elements. Expect occasional swearing, adult references, partying and stylized imagery connected to drug use. Although the people appear as LEGO figures, the story follows an adult music career and is not aimed only at young children.
