BIG FEELINGS · LITTLE DREAMERS
National Velvet.
A girl, a horse, and a race worth dreaming about.
Velvet Brown wins a spirited horse in a village raffle and becomes determined to enter him in the Grand National. A former jockey helps her train, while her family weighs the cost of an ambition larger than their small English village.
Why it’s a little special
Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney give warmth to a classic about patience, courage and the people who back a child's dream.
BEFORE YOU PRESS PLAY
Know the story.
Know your little people.
Horse-racing danger, falls, exhaustion and disappointment. Some old-fashioned gender expectations and family discipline reflect the period.
Our notes are a starting point, not an age recommendation. G and PG films can still include intense moments. You know your family best.
