BIG FEELINGS
The Illusionist.
Some magic leaves no trace.
As stage magic loses its audience, an aging performer travels to Scotland looking for work. A young admirer follows him to Edinburgh, where their unusual friendship makes everyday life both warmer and more complicated.
Why it’s a little special
Quiet visual comedy and beautifully observed city scenes reward viewers who enjoy a slower, bittersweet story.
BEFORE YOU PRESS PLAY
Know the story.
Know your little people.
Poverty, loneliness, drinking, smoking and an implied suicide attempt involving a supporting character. Minimal dialogue and a melancholy ending may need discussion.
Our notes are a starting point, not an age recommendation. G and PG films can still include intense moments. You know your family best.
