Toy Story 2
100%TomatometerSome things are too good to shelve.
An overlooked rescue effort returns to the man who helped make it possible.
As Nazi power spreads through Europe, young British stockbroker Nicholas Winton joins an effort to bring endangered children from Czechoslovakia to safety in Britain. Decades later, he is still troubled by the children they could not save. The film moves between the urgent preparations in Prague and the older Winton’s encounter with the lasting effects of that work.
A historical drama that gives families a concrete story for discussing refugees, collective action and the lives affected by an individual’s decision to help.
The official US PG rating cites thematic material, smoking and some language. Nazi persecution, antisemitism, children separated from parents and the Holocaust give the film substantial emotional weight. The rescue story includes loss and survivor guilt, so the rating should not be read as a promise of a light or comfortable family watch.
